Jury President

Tara Mckenty
Creative Director, Google APAC

Tara Mckenty is our Google Digital Communication Jury President for 2019. She’s known for challenging and disrupting the status quo using her creative mind and mediums for social good, and has collected over a hundred awards during her advertising rebellion.

After casting a career in politics aside, Tara found her calling in the halls of Whybin\TBWA Auckland. It was here that she was named in Campaign Magazines Top emerging talent portfolio. Her Saatchi & Saatchi era was equally as decorative and the think-tank where she created a children’s book for OPSM testing children’s eyesight, a campaign that was recognised by the WARC 100 as the most effective in the world in 2016.

Tara now finds herself at Google where she thinks up smarter, creative uses for Google’s products and platforms for some of the biggest clients. Her work has included reuniting lost dogs with their owners for Pedigree, building immersive story-time platforms for Disney, creating LIVE AR space experiences in living rooms for the ABC, and co-founding the diversity initiative RARE supported by D&AD.

Camilla Clerke
ECD, HelloComputer
Cape Town

After several years studying B.Com CA, Camilla got out just in time, pursuing a career in advertising. After a number of years working on TVCs, print and radio campaigns for clients like FNB, MTN and Wimpy, she found her way into experimental and innovative through-the-line agency, HelloFCB+.

It was here her life changed forever. Exploring innovative solutions to solve business problemslike building a real-life website on a 2km cycling track for Toyota RAV4, turning a non-profit organisation into a Media Agency to feed hungry children for the PSFA, and telling people to “say it with a cactus” instead of flowers in Netflorist’s drought campaign, Camilla has won a number of awards, both locally and internationally; including Cannes LionsLoeries, Bookmarks, Webbys, D&AD, FWA and One Show. She has also sat on the Cannes, Loeries, Dubai Lynx and Bookmarks panels.

She likes wine.

Emma Carpenter
Design Director, Fjord - Accenture
Cape Town

Back in 1999, Emma got stuck into digital at a time where the industry was only just beginning to take shape, at a small shop in the heart of the design world in London. She joined AKQA in 2000 where she spent the next seven years honing her craft, working across its enviable client list and collecting a few awards along the way. Her work contributed to AKQA London being named Revolution’s ‘Agency of the Decade’ from 1997 to 2007. After 30 years of cold, dark English winters she came to her senses and swapped Blighty for a sunnier climate, moving to Ogilvy Cape Town in 2007 and then to Quirk, as their Creative Director in 2009.

Emma joined Accenture Interactive as Creative Director in 2015 and opened the First Fjord studio in Africa last year. Taking up the challenge of bringing design and customer strategy to big hairy business transformation projects, she is inspired by the blend of experience, technology and beautiful work that produces measurable results. She works closely with service and product designers to define the needs of everyday humans and sticks to the core principle that all design should be empathetic, relevant and intuitive.

Emma has judged extensively and served on a number of South African awards juries. She has also judged internationally in Korea and New York and served as Mobile jury member at the prestigious Cannes Lions in 2016.
