Jury President

Mariska Oosthuizen
Head of Brand Group Marketing, Sanlam
Johannesburg

I am a creative strategist and marketer who believes in the power of brand and finding creative solutions to business problems. After obtaining a law degree I decided to do something a little more creative and joined the exciting world of advertising. I have honed my strategic marketing skills over the past 20 years first working at a number of South Africa’s biggest advertising agencies on some of the country’s most iconic brands before venturing into brand consulting at Yellowwood Brand Architects. And most recently as the Head of Brand at Sanlam (one of South Africa’s biggest financial services organizations). I believe in the ancient art of storytelling and that relevant well-crafted creative ideas have the power to change behavior. If I had to sum myself up in one word it will be ‘why?’. I am curious by nature and seek the truth not just when it comes to brands but also in life. I believe that fun is one of the most underrated values and that if you enjoy what you do, you do better. When I’m not working I spend time with my two small humans experiencing life through and with them, helping them find the answers to all their “why’s”. Brand accolades include;  TOP BRAND AT THE BOOKMARKS 2019, TOP CLIENT REPRESENTATIVE AT LOERIES 2018, TOP BRAND AT LOERIES 2018, LOERIES GRANDPRIX 2018, 2x SILVER ONE SHOW AWARDS 2018, BRONZE GLOBAL AEGIS MEDIA INNOVATION AWARD 2018, BRONZE ONE SHOW AWARD 2016, TOP BRAND AT LOERIES 2015, BRONZE CANNES AWARD 2015, 4X GOLD MIDAS 2015.

Ranti Atunwa
Executive Creative Director, TBWA\Concept
Nigeria

Ranti, who was born in 1977 in Buea, Cameroon has always had a passion for
the creative arts. In primary school he got into trouble drawing caricatures of his
teachers and posting the drawings on the school notice boards.
An avid illustrator and painter, Ranti has a BA in Fine Arts from Obafemi
Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in Nigeria. He’s also amassed over a decade of
experience in art direction, design, creative strategy, copywriting, concept
development and production. His career started with MC&A Saatchi but it could
have all gone wrong as he also got an offer on the same day to go work for a
new generation bank. We are positive that bank dodged a bullet. He’s worked in
top agencies across the country – Insight Publicis, FKG2, SO&U Saatchi &
Saatchi and developed pan-African and local campaigns, winning quite a few
awards along the way.
As Executive Creative Director of TBWA\Concept Nigeria he’s worked on award
winning campaigns for Indomie Noodles, Guinness, StanbicIBTC Bank and MTN
to mention a few.
When he is not working he’s most likely surfing in Tarkwa Bay Beach, bungee
jumping of the 100ft platform in Soweto or studying African mythology.
