New Entry System

Our updated entry system, will give you more control over your entry media.
Now you can preview your media, specify if you're sending physical material and arrange your entry elements in the order you want it to be viewed by judges. Click here for more

IMPORTANT: From 2017, no live media can be entered including URLs. For example, websites or landing pages should be presented as an overview video or in jpegs. YouTube content and online video must be entered as a .MOV file. See preparation guidelines for detailed specifications.

New categories in 2017

  • Design for Digital
    A new category in Communication Design, that recognises the important role that design has in digital media.
    Any digital platform can be entered here, for the jury to consider the innovation in graphic design on the platform.
    Examples include animation, motion graphic and still design – websites, mobile, interactive applications, publication design.
  • Data-Driven Campaign
    This new category in Digital & Interactive, recognises the creative use of data to shape campaign strategy, inform execution, profile audiences, and adapt to campaign performance and engagement metrics. A good current example is The Next Rembrandt, where data modeling and algorithms were used to create a believable painting precisely in the style of the great Dutch Master.
  • The Facebook Challenge
    o   As part of Facebook’s support of young creatives, this Student Category focuses on the use of mobile media to promote a socially relevant cause. Check the category info for details.

Changes to categories

  • Outdoor Media 
    Street pole advertising is now included in the outdoor media category.

  • Digital & Interactive Category
    • Digital media can be entered in the following categories: Media Innovation; TV, Film & Video; and Design for Digital Media.
    • The Online Advertising category has been renamed to Display Advertising.
    • Website and Microsite sub categories have been combined.
    • Mobile Advertising has been renamed to Mobile Media.
    • Interface & Navigation has been renamed to User Experience Design.
    • Digital Craft categories for Animation, Illustration, Photography & Graphic Design have moved to Communication DesignDesign for Digital.

  • Student Category
    • Motion & Digital Graphic Design has been added to the Student Category:
    • Internet & Mobile Media has been renamed to Digital Media

 

Remember:

  • Please remember to double-check entry rulesall work Made for the Region or Made by the Region is eligible, and all Craft work for eligible work can be entered, irrespective of whether or not the craft person is from the region. Check the full rules for details.
  • Overview videos for all entries must be limited to 2 minutes.. If it is felt necessary, the full-length work may accompany the 2-minute overview. Check the “Preparation Guidelines” for more information on the requirements for each category.
  • When submitting multiple elements of a campaign into various categories, it is vital that the entry is described appropriately for each category. If the judges cannot readily discern which elements are to be considered for the relevant category, it will count against your entry. When supplying an Overview Video, it is highly recommended that the presentation is tailored/adapted to highlight the elements most relevant to the chosen category.
  • Check the Preparation Guidelines to ensure your media is entered correctly. Requirements are different for each category.
  • A reminder that all Non-English entries must come with English translations and/or subtitles

Things You Need to know:

  • Eligibility: Entries must be commercially published, launched or aired to a substantial audience for the first time between 1 June 2016 and 31 May 2017.
  • The ELIGIBLE REGION includes the following countries from Africa & the Middle East:
    • Africa: All countries on the continent of Africa.
    • Middle-East: All Middle Eastern states - Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, UAE, Yemen.
    • Madagascar.
    • Island states off the African coast (e.g. Mauritius and the Seychelles).
  • All student work, created and submitted to a registered educational institution from the Eligible Region, may be entered. Where possible, student work should be submitted by the School/ College/ University, rather than directly by the individual student.
  • Loeries® Creative Week™ Durban: Monday 14 to Monday 21 August 2017. Delegate days are from Thurs - Mon.
